On Thursday March 5, 2009, Jason Rivenburg was resting in his truck when assailants shot, killed, and robbed him for what amounted to a few dollars. 12 miles from his destination, he was unable to find safe parking and was forced to pull into a vacant lot that was frequently used by truckers. At the time, Jason had a young son and his wife was expecting twins. Support Jason's Law (HR2156) which calls for federal support in expanding our nation's safe truck parking infrastructure. This bill creates a pilot program to invest 120 million dollars over a 6 year period.
Jason's family, friends, and the trucking community has worked vigilantly to raise awareness and drive support for this bill. OOCVA asks that you take a moment, pick up the phone, and do your part to help protect yourself and those you love. Call your representatives today!
